Legacy Lives – Sara Phillips

Sara Riley Phillips was born in Skipperville, Alabama in October 1928. After graduating high school, she moved to Montgomery to attend business school. She took a job at Thermal Components where she worked her entire career, becoming their first female Vice President.

Sara married James Phillips and had two children, Steve and Cheryl. She loved being a wife and mother, handling everything that life threw their way. James fell sick in the last years of his life, and Sara was right there by his side, loving and caring for him until the very end. After James passed, Sara began volunteering at the Baptist Hospital and also in an assisted living facility in Montgomery.

Sara was very active in church and civic clubs. She loved to teach Sunday School and helping to direct communion. Her favorite past times were crafting, ceramics and traveling with friends.

Sara has lived at the Harbor at Hickory Hill for over 13 years, and is now The Harbor’s oldest resident! She has had some wonderful adventures throughout the years, including winning the “Gorgeous Grandma Pageant” in 2024, and she has made some fantastic friendships at The Harbor.
